I could tell from the video that the conversation was not “random”; the organizer had strategized and preplanned his comments  and his timing. He anticipated his co-workers particular concerns and had pre designed responses that encouraged her to move from her position of apathy to one of action and support.

I identify with Helen’s comments. Iam hearing workers talk of retirement more nad more often.  We’ve had 3 people retire from my brand since July, and 3 more announced their intentions to do so within the next 6 months, not to mention very high sick leave/absenteeism. I  like your assessment Matt, He wasn’t too pushy, but also did not give up right away. I came across this problem first hand at my previous union. It was very difficult to get most people involved, and you really had to get into discussion with them and explain the benifets and the downfalls of not getting involved, but without shhoving them into it.

I really liked the fact that this group got together, they brought evidence and did their homework. I wish there was this kind of involvement in most discussions. It would make things alot easier.

This video is like most work places, work loads are more than one person can handle.  Youre doing work of 2 people and only getting paid as one.  Most people are afraid to make waves so that they don’t get introuble. 

I agree with Margaret.  With everyone pulling together,  having all the surveys and showing support for each other and then presenting it to Management.
